COVID-19 Testing

Today was the day - Covid-19 Testing for the Nairn family.

We were told that testing was to be done on Day 10 - and we were ready to have it done, so that we can hopefully 'get out of here' on Friday morning.  Two nurses in full hazmat suits knocked on the door and ask us all to come to the door - no way were they going to enter our potentially germ infected space !!  We all had to identify ourselves and confirm we were not experiencing any symptoms.  All while they stayed in the hallway and we stepped forward one at a time - it seriously felt like we were in a criminal line up.  First up was a temperate check - all within normal range, so next up was the swab.

Who was going to be the first one up ?  Me, of course ! Leaning up against the door we were asked to lean our heads back and stay very still.  Mike and I were a bit tall for the Irish nurse so we had to complete a wall squat while we were tested……… by the way, what is it with the entire nursing and wellness staff being Irish ???

The throat swab was not so bad, just the annoying gag reflex that was inevitable as she poked back there.  Then on to the nasal swab.  Oh my, we had heard the term 'brain scraping' used to describe this one and we think that may actually be kind. That swab went so far up in to my skull, and then she rotated it around, that I was certain she was going to bring my brain out.  With that being an unsuccessful brain extraction, she then tried the other nostril.  Wow !!!! that is one experience I never want to have to go through again.

We were all very brave but our eyes were all watering at the end and we were all in fits of sneezes !! We will only hear if the test comes back positive - otherwise we are out of here on Friday.  Unless you 'have' to have the test done, I would be opting out - eeeeeek !!!!
