Rookie of the Year - Max Cricket

The end of the Indian school year is approaching, when they will have their long summer break, and Max's cricket club also wound up its term on the weekend.  The club is called RX Cricket Academy, and for the knowledgeable cricket fans, they have a current Indian player who 'came from' this club - Mayank Agarwal.  So, the club has a fiercely competitive nature - well, what Indian club doesn't ??!! The expectation is that you attend 6 days a week to train and play - as well as eat, breath and sleep cricket.

This is not really something I agree with, I think a balance of sports and other activities is better for young kids.  Anyway, due to school commitments Max is actually only able to attend about 3 times a week and that seems to be plenty.  The coaches seem to be ok with it too, and they love having him attend and have enjoyed helping Max out with a number of skills.

So much so, that on Sunday at the closing ceremony for the year, his coach gave him the 'Rookie of the Year' award for his U14 group.  He was very nervous going up to receive the trophy but also very proud of his work and his improved confidence and approach to cricket here in India.  The group have loved having him attend and we have loved seeing his improvement.  Well done Max.
