BISP Phuket 2019

Over the weekend, the boys were both lucky enough to participate in a school football (soccer) tournament in Phuket !!  Yes, when you are a student at an international school, there are opportunities that blow our minds.  This tournament is held at the British International School of Phuket (BISP) and is one of the best school events that I have ever been too.  It is run like a well oiled machine with every option you could imagine at a school event.
Jack attended this same BISP Soccer Sevens back in 2014 when we were first in Bangalore, and he went last year when he was boarding. This year, we had both Jack and Max participating which meant that I had a good excuse to go and watch them play.
Jacks was in the Under 15 team and Max in the Under 13 team.  It’s always difficult for our Indian team to be really competitive in this tournament, as the opportunity to play games as a team in the lead up appears to be impossible.  So our poor U13 boys had never played a game together as a team, only training, and this really showed when they came up against teams that play games and tournaments weekly.
Despite the above, the 5 teams we sent from Bangalore left it all on the pitch and tried their hearts out.  Jacks team did really well with some close games and a fabulous penalty shoot out to go through to the next round of the Plate.  Jack, as keeper, was a champion and saved a great goal to take them through.  Sadly, they weren’t able to keep that going in the next game.
Max’s team struggled in their games and really need more game time before they next play but we were proud of how they kept working hard and stills emend to have lots of fun together.

Saved !!!!! and they won !!!

and Jack is under there somewhere…….
