OWC Masquerade Ball in Bangalore

The OWC (Overseas Women's Club) is a fabulous group here in Bangalore who provide support for ‘new’ Bangalorean's and are also the main contributors to a large number of very lucky charities in and around Bangalore.  When we lived here on our first tour, I had a lot of involvement with the OWC, as they were very helpful with the 'ins and outs' of arriving and starting a life in Bangalore.  Second time around, and I felt that I didn't need the 'complete' connection with the group but still get to enjoy all the social benefits of the club.

The OWC have an annual Gala where the entire funds raised support a variety of charities that the OWC are aligned with.  These include schools of underprivileged kids, women's charities, and orphan assistance. The Gala is a fantastic night, with everyone getting dressed up for a night of auctions, good food, good drinks but not so much wine (as they ran out), dancing and general shenanigans.

Mike and I decided to go all out 'Indian' as our last Gala before we leave to repatriate back to Australia.  I do love a sari and this one is still one of my favourites.  It was a masquerade ball, but the masks really were annoying and mine only lasted an hour or so…….. Mike had a little more staying power than me, and others lasted ALL night !!

This year the venue was the Four Seasons hotel which is about an hour away, so we decided to make the most of the discount room rate, and stay the night.  Allowed us to wander back upstairs and not have to fight the traffic back home late in the evening.  The traffic just never seems to ease here in Bangalore, and after a night out it really is the last thing you want to be doing.

A great night with lovely expat friends - a night to remember.
