Spring Break in Sri Lanka 2019 - Beach time
I am writing this blog on Easter Monday, after spending a very
relaxing and peaceful week in Sri Lanka for Spring Break. It is now known that there were a series of
horrible bomb attacks made in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday killing hundreds and
injuring even more. The attacks were
clearly planned and targeted churches and luxury hotels mostly in and around
Colombo. I cannot explain to you how this breaks our hearts, as we have found
Sri Lanka (the two times we have visited) to be the most peaceful and loving country. They have had such tragedy with their long
civil war and then the tsunami of 2004, and now these senseless attacks – what will
this do to this lovely country.
I hope that I can assure you that Sri Lanka is a fabulous
holiday destination by knowing what a great time we had there. Tourism is such an important part of the
economy there and they don’t deserve to lose our business. I want to share our photos of a wonderful
beach holiday filled with fun, relaxation and some crazy waves at the beach for
the boys. We were staying in a beautiful
resort at the very southern end of Sri Lanka in Hambantota which was previously
devastated by the tsunami and is still rebuilding from the damaged caused.
As this is the southern part of Sri Lanka located directly on
the Indian Ocean, the surf is quite rough, and you can see just how ‘exposed’ this
coastline is to the elements. I hope you
enjoy these photos and see just how spectacular Sri Lanka is, and then book your next holiday to Sri Lanka.
