Shivakumara Swami is No More

Earlier today the 111 year old religious swami, Shivakumara Swami, passed away in hospital in our state of Karnataka (in Indian terms 'he is no more').  He was the leader of the monastery called 'Siddaganga Mutt', which is over 5 centuries old and he was the previous head of the Lingayat community who worship Shiva.  He was renowned for his social work within the state of Karnataka and was highly regarded by all religious and political leaders in India.  He had been very ill over the last year and had been in hospital for the last few days with a serious lung infection.

As he was a very well loved state figure, the State Government has called for a 3 day state of mourning.  This means that all schools and colleges will be closed tomorrow for the cremation with full state honours.

This means that, again, the boys will be having a day off school due to a death of a very old Indian leader.  I have never heard of this sort of thing happening in any other country.  This means there will be another Virtual Learning day at home for Max.  I think this is the 5th unscheduled day off school this year - help me get through yet another one!  Poor Jack will have to stay at school and study, as we didn’t know about the closure until late today and were not able to get him home early.
