New City, Same Blog Address

As many of you may know we are currently mid-pack for another move. This time we are moving within India, from Hyderabad to Bangalore.  The decision wasn’t made easily and there are multiple reasons for why but I’m hoping it will be the last move for a couple of years. And then it will be a move home to Australia 😬

I have made the decision to keep the blog address the same even though we won’t be in Hyderabad. ‘The Good The Bangalore and The Ugly’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it. I know I’m such a key part of all your lives (ha ha ha) and I don’t want you missing out on all my interesting escapades, so keeping the blog address the same means no changes for you. Lucky you!!

More adventures will commence in Bangalore from tomorrow !

We had a lovely New Year’s Eve celebration in our gated community with good friends. We decided to make the party fancy dress, even though no one else in the community was dressing up. Always fun to see people’s faces when you turn up in costume and they’re in casual dress (although here that was a saree)

Amongst all the celebrations of the holiday season, we have been getting ready for the inevitable task of packing! Mike and I worked out that we have done 13 major moves together in 18 years...... we are hoping this is the second to last for a long while. Even though this time we have removalists, and we don’t have to do the physical packing, I still manage to pack probably a third of our things, run the kitchen down (again!!), finalise bills, arrange school moves, organise everything in the right rooms etc. and then there is the coordination of the actual move on the day.

Many people have said that I must be an expert at it by now, but I seriously hate it. The typical removalists issues arose yesterday with a thousand questions on what things were, insurance costs, identifying chips, cracks and marks in things.  I was pulled in a thousand different directions all day. Thank goodness for good friends who took the boys off for a fun day and kept them out of my hair 😘

Then there was an issue with the  truck.  A small truck arrived for our entire house. I then questioning the size of said truck and was then  told “two trucks ma’am”! This didn’t make sense, as we had arranged and paid for a single large truck.... then it all became clear, the second small truck had boxes for another person loaded at the front ...... the removal company were ‘sharing’ a truck. I actually had no issue with this but why does everyone lie to me. This conversation went on for half an hour of head wobbles and yes/no ma’am, ridiculous discussions about packing materials, empty boxes, phone calls to managers, begging for forgiveness etc. it was all I just ridiculous - I just wanted to be told the truth.

After a full day of packing and cleaning, the trucks (both of them) left Open Skies at 7.15pm.  I wonder what will be broken this time around??!!

To finish my final Hyderabad blog, here are some photos of our NYE adventures and the pack.
