I'm finally back !! I have been very quiet while we have holidayed in Australia but we have now arrived in Hyderabad and are settling in to our new home in 'Open Skies'. We have been here for two days and are starting to kick the jet lag by spending every waking moment unpacking and finding homes for everything. It's interesting having more space again after downsizing to our apartment in Kowloon - we have bought and cleared out so many of the same items over the last 5 years of expat life that I am definitely keeping many retail outlets in business. I keep saying, I wish I hadn't sold 'x''.......
Our new home is a 4 bedroom villa in a gated community called 'Open Skies', west of the city centre. We are about 30 minutes from the airport, Mike's work and Max's school - see the map below. It is difficult to not continually compare Hyderabad to Bangalore but we are trying to measure our new home on it's own merits. The community has 60 villas, a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, park and cricket net, which will keep us all entertained when we need to be.

I have successfully placed some online shopping orders for stocking the kitchen cupboards and fridge - which is much easier than actually venturing to a number of different supermarkets with two boys in tow and a pile of cash in hand. As I don't currently have any access to our bank account, I am reliant on a cash lifestyle !! Hopefully that will be fixed soon and I can really keep the Indian economy afloat. It is always entertaining to see how your deliveries will arrive in India - yesterday it was by scooter, today by auto-rik. Restocking a house is just one of the many 'pleasures' of relocating......... and finding all the new brands of things is always a mine field.
We did have a successful outing yesterday, locating a local bakery that we were told about by another expat and we managed to buy some fabulous bagels and pastries. So nice to know that we can be spoiled when we need to be, as we are not a fan of the Indian supermarket bread.

The boys have been exploring the gated community and have made some new friends which is wonderful and makes life much easier for me while I am unpacking and getting our lives sorted. Here are a few pictures of our villa and the gated community.
